Why Veldun exists.

A few years ago I watched a county bar association nearly collapse under the weight of its own administration. The board was five attorneys volunteering two hours a week. The membership platform was Wild Apricot. The newsletter went through Mailchimp. Dues came through Stripe. The member roster lived in a Google Sheet that the outgoing secretary emailed to the incoming one every January.

Every board transition lost institutional knowledge. The new secretary spent her first two months figuring out how to log into four systems. The newsletter — a straightforward monthly update — took three hours because it meant copying event details from one tool, member updates from another, and renewal reminders from the spreadsheet. Every month, from scratch.

The problem was not that these tools were bad. Mailchimp is good at email. Stripe is good at payments. But none of them were built for a 150-member professional association run by volunteers. The integration overhead — the exports, the imports, the four logins, the manual reconciliation — consumed more hours than any of the actual board work.

I looked for the platform that should exist: one system for membership, dues, events, email, and a public website, built for organizations this size, with AI doing the repetitive admin work. It did not exist. So I started building it.

What Veldun is and is not.

Veldun is built for volunteer boards with 50–300 members running on two hours a week. Not for organizations with paid administrative staff. Not for enterprise associations with 10,000 members and a full-time IT department. If your org has a paid executive director, you probably need a different platform.

The AI in Veldun is built into the workflows — event creation, newsletter assembly, renewal outreach. It produces drafts, flags problems, and assembles reports. It does not introduce itself, ask how it can help, or live in a sidebar chatbot. You describe what you need and the system does the work.

Where we are.

Veldun is built by a small team and currently serves its first organizations. The product is new. The feature set is narrower than platforms that have been around for fifteen years. But the core — members, dues, events, email, website, and AI — works, and it gets better every week.
