Board handover kit
When a board changes, the things that break are rarely the big ones. It is the bank that will not talk to the new treasurer, the domain renewing on a former officer's card, the minutes in somebody's personal drive. Pick your organization and the seats that are changing, and get dated checklists, a register of who owns every account, and the board year as a calendar.

How a handover runs
- 1
Eight weeks before
Confirm the handover date against the bylaws, ask the bank what it needs to change signatories, and gather the minutes into one folder the organization owns.
- 2
Four to six weeks before
Reconcile the accounts, list every recurring charge and whose card it is on, find the domain registrar login, and check the recovery email on every account.
- 3
Two to three weeks before
Write down the filing dates for the year ahead, fill in the who-owns-what register, and add the incoming officers as a second admin everywhere.
- 4
Handover day
Change the bank signatories, move ownership of the domain and workspace, and hand over the governing documents.
- 5
The month after
Remove the outgoing officers' access, tell partners who the new officers are, and check that nothing still points at a former officer's personal email.
