Best Membership Management Software for Small Associations (2026)

Short answer: The right platform depends on who builds your website and how much you collect online. Comparable platforms with published prices charge $59 to $265 a month for 250 to 1,000 contacts, checked in August 2026, and some also take a share of each payment. Veldun is $99 to $199 a month, builds your site for you, and takes nothing from dues. Several others cost less if you build the site yourself.

    When something breaks, a person answers every support question, within one business day, usually the same day, on every plan. If your board needs any feature that makes sense for a membership organisation, Veldun builds it and ships it within seven days with no build fee, so the software fits how you run. Veldun also rebuilds your website in your brand, and nobody on the board has to learn a website builder.

    Wild Apricot is cheaper than Veldun below about 250 contacts, and its onboarding coaching is free. Every contact counts, newsletter subscribers included, and there is no tier between 500 and 2,000. A 300-member association with 400 subscribers pays $3,180 a year there and $1,788 on Veldun. Its help pages say it has no phone support, and live chat only on weekdays.

    Liberty free; Serenity from $45; Professional from $119 a month

    Springly costs less than Veldun on subscription. Its free Liberty tier takes no transaction fee and is funded by optional tips Springly asks of your payers. Serenity includes a website builder your association uses itself. A quote-only tier serves federations and chapter structures. What the paid tiers take from payments is not published, so ask Springly before you sign.

    ClubExpress is cheaper than Veldun at most sizes under 500. At 250 members it is about $95 a month, against Veldun's $99. At 500 it is $170 against $149, one of the few sizes where Veldun costs less. It counts active members only, which is more generous than Veldun's count. The website is a template you configure, with a setup fee it does not publish.

    MembershipWorks is the cheaper subscription at every size it shares with Veldun. In its own words, it takes no fee or portion of payments, and Veldun takes none either. It adds membership tools to a site you already run, such as WordPress or Squarespace. You keep your site, and its design and upkeep stay with you. Veldun builds the site and changes it when you ask.

    Join It's Starter, at $29 a month, is cheaper than Veldun. It adds a service fee on online payments, on top of the processor's fee: 3% on Starter, 2% on Total and 1.5% on Extra. Every plan includes a website builder, email features and renewal reminders. Your own domain comes with Extra at $199. Veldun takes nothing from payments on any plan.

    Raklet has a free plan and is cheaper than Veldun at the entry level. It takes a share of every payment on top of the processor's fee, from 4% on the free plan to 1% on Premium, plus 60 cents a payment. On Essentials, $20,000 collected in about 400 payments costs about $840 a year. Veldun takes nothing from those payments.

    MemberClicks does not publish a price list, so an association asks for a quote. Since 6 January 2026 it has been owned by Momentive Software, which also owns Wild Apricot. The two products are still sold separately. If you want to see the price before you ask for a quote, Veldun publishes every plan: $99, $149 and $199 a month, month to month.

Springly's paid tiers and ClubExpress do not publish what they take, so ask them. Wild Apricot adds 20% to its subscription if you use your own processor in the US or Canada. Veldun and MembershipWorks take nothing.
Is there a free alternative to Wild Apricot?
Three of the platforms we checked have free plans. Springly's Liberty tier takes no transaction fee and asks payers for optional tips. MembershipWorks is free up to 50 accounts. Raklet is free up to 100 contacts and takes 4% of each payment plus 60 cents. Veldun has no free plan. Its private preview of your rebuilt site is free and needs no card.
