Veldun vs. Springly

If your organisation is small, brand new, or genuinely has no budget, Springly's free tier is a better answer than Veldun and it is not close. You can collect dues, run events, take donations and keep a member list without paying anything at all, and they do not take a percentage on the way through. For a group that is currently doing all of this on a spreadsheet and a personal payment app, that is a real upgrade at zero cost.

They also sell a quote-only Network tier built for federations and chapter structures, which is unusual in this market and genuinely useful if you are a national body with local chapters.

We would rather tell you that plainly than have you find it out after signing with us.

Springly's free tier is funded by tips. In their own words, they rely on the generosity of your donors, members and event registrants, and those optional tips are what let them offer the service free. So the money still comes from somewhere, and that somewhere is the person paying their dues on your website.

Whether that matters is a judgement about your organisation, not a technical one. For a fundraising-led charity, a tip prompt at checkout is normal and often welcome. For a professional body collecting annual dues from members who already feel they pay enough, an extra ask at the payment screen can read as your organisation soliciting on someone else's behalf. Only you know which of those you are.

Veldun does not put a prompt in front of your members. You pay us, we take nothing from what you collect, and the payment screen asks for exactly the amount you set.

On subscription price we lose this comparison and we are not going to dress it up. Springly's Serenity tier starts at $45 a month with a website builder included, against our $99. Their Professional tier starts at $119, which is above us, but Serenity is the tier most small organisations would actually buy.

What that difference buys is design labour. Springly gives you a builder; the layout, the photographs, the typography and every future change are your volunteers' work. Veldun gives you a designed site that we build and keep maintaining, and a request to restructure the homepage before your gala is an email to us rather than an evening for your secretary.

If your board contains someone who enjoys that work and has the time, Springly is the more sensible purchase. If it does not, the gap between $45 and $99 buys back the hours nobody on your board wants to spend.

Springly publishes the payment terms for their free tier clearly, and shows a zero percentage in their own comparison against other providers. What their paid tiers charge on payments is not published on the pages we could read, so this comparison does not state a figure for it. If you are evaluating Serenity or Professional, ask them directly what comes off a dues payment.

For our part: Veldun connects to your organisation's own Stripe account. The money lands in your bank account, the card rate is Stripe's published rate, and we add nothing to it at any tier.
