Membership Software Under $100 a Month (2026)

Short answer: Several platforms start below Veldun's Starter at $99 a month. MembershipWorks, ClubExpress, Springly, Join It, Raklet and Wild Apricot all start lower, and some have free plans. Join It and Raklet take a share of each online payment. Veldun Starter covers up to 250 billable contacts and includes a website built for you, with nothing taken from dues. Above 250, Veldun is $149 a month.

Under $100 a month buys very different things. On some platforms it buys the software, and you build the website yourself. Elsewhere, a share of every dues payment goes to the platform on top of the card fee. Before you compare prices, check who builds and updates the site, and what is taken from each payment. The table shows both.

  1. Veldun Starter

Associations up to 250 billable contacts that want the website done for them

$99 a month to 250 billable contacts; $149 above that

Six of the seven platforms here start lower than Veldun. For $99 a month, Veldun rebuilds your website and makes the changes you ask for, so nobody on the board has to learn a website builder. Dues go to your own Stripe account, and Veldun takes nothing from them. Once you pass 250 billable contacts, Veldun is $149 a month, above this page's budget.

    Strengths

    • Website rebuilt for you, with changes included
    • Nothing taken from dues or tickets

    Trade-offs

    • Costs more than every other entry plan here
    • $149 a month once you pass 250 contacts
  2. Springly Serenity

Associations that want a free or low-cost start and will build their own site

Liberty free; Serenity from $45 a month to 250 contacts

Springly costs less than Veldun on subscription. Its free Liberty tier takes no transaction fee. Springly funds it by asking your members, donors and registrants for an optional tip when they pay. Serenity, from $45 a month, adds a website builder that your association uses itself. What the paid tiers take from payments is not published, so ask Springly before you compare.

    Strengths

    • Free tier with no transaction fee
    • Serenity is $45 a month for up to 250 contacts

    Trade-offs

    • Payers are asked for a tip on the free tier
    • Paid tiers' payment fees not published
  3. MembershipWorks

Associations with a website they like and someone to keep it up

    Free to 50 accounts; $35 a month to 300; $59 to 600; $95 to 1,200

MembershipWorks is the cheaper subscription at every size it shares with Veldun. A 300-member association pays $35 a month there and $149 on Veldun. Like Veldun, it takes nothing from payments; your gateway charges its own rate. It adds membership tools to a site you already run on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix or similar, so the design and upkeep stay with you. Veldun builds the site and changes it when you ask.

    Strengths

    • Cheaper than Veldun at every size the two share
    • Takes no fee or portion of payments

    Trade-offs

    • Site design and upkeep stay with you
    • Hosted-site option has no published detail
  4. ClubExpress

Associations under 500 members with someone to configure a template site

    $95 a month at 250 members, $114 at 300; $35 monthly minimum

ClubExpress is the cheaper subscription at most sizes under 500. It bills active members only, and a mailing list up to five times that is free, which counts more generously than Veldun does. The website is a template you configure, with a one-time setup fee it does not publish. Card payments run through a built-in merchant account at rates it does not publish, so ask. Veldun builds your site and takes nothing from dues.

    Strengths

    • Cheaper subscription at most sizes under 500
    • Counts active members only

    Trade-offs

    • One-time setup fee, amount not published
    • Card processing rates not published
  5. Join It Starter

Associations that collect little online and want a low entry price

Starter $29 a month, plus a 3% service fee on online payments

Join It's Starter, at $29 a month, is cheaper than Veldun. On top of the processor's fee, it takes a service fee on online payments: 3% on Starter and 2% on Total. It includes a website builder, email features and renewal reminders. Your own domain and removing Join It's branding come with Extra at $199. On Veldun, dues reach your account with nothing taken.

    Strengths

    • Starter at $29 a month
    • Website builder, email and renewal reminders

    Trade-offs

    • 3% service fee on online payments on Starter
    • Own domain and no Join It branding need Extra
  6. Wild Apricot (up to 250 contacts)

Associations under about 250 contacts with a small newsletter list

    $66 a month to 100 contacts; $82 to 250

Below about 250 contacts, Wild Apricot's subscription is cheaper than Veldun's. It includes a website builder, email and free onboarding coaching. Newsletter-only subscribers count as contacts, so a growing list moves you up a tier. In the US or Canada, using your own processor such as Stripe adds 20% to the subscription. Its help pages say it has no phone support, and live chat only on weekdays.

    Strengths

    • $82 a month up to 250 contacts
    • Free onboarding coaching

    Trade-offs

    • Newsletter subscribers count toward your tier
    • 20% added for your own processor, US and Canada
  7. Raklet Essentials

Associations collecting little online that want a free plan to start

Free to 100 contacts; Essentials $59 a month to 500

Raklet is cheaper than Veldun at the entry level and has a free plan. It takes a share of every payment on top of the processor's fee: 3% plus 60 cents a payment on Essentials. An association collecting $20,000 a year in about 400 payments pays Raklet about $840 a year from those payments. Veldun takes nothing from the same payments.

    Strengths

    • Free plan up to 100 contacts
    • Essentials at $49 a month billed annually

    Trade-offs

    • 3% plus 60 cents of each payment on Essentials
    • About $840 a year from $20,000 in dues

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest membership software?
Of the platforms we checked, the free plans cost least on subscription: Springly's Liberty tier, MembershipWorks up to 50 accounts and Raklet up to 100 contacts. Raklet's free plan takes 4% of each payment plus 60 cents. Among paid plans, Join It Starter is $29 a month with a 3% fee on online payments. MembershipWorks is $35 to 300 accounts with no fee on payments.
Is there a platform under $100 that builds your website?
Veldun Starter, at $99 a month, is the one on this list. Send your current website address and Veldun rebuilds the site as a private preview, free and with no card needed. After launch, an admin asks for changes in plain words. Veldun drafts each one on a copy of the site, so the live site stays as it is until the admin presses deploy. ClubExpress sells setup packages up to a full build-out, at prices it does not publish.
Does Veldun stay under $100 as we grow?
Up to 250 billable contacts, it does. Starter is $99 a month to 250, Growth is $149 to 500, and Professional is $199 to 1,000. Each membership counts once, even a household shared by several people, and so does each non-member who came to an event in the last 12 months. Newsletter-only subscribers are free up to three times your members. A 300-member association is on Growth, because Starter stops at 250.
Which membership platforms take a share of payments?
Of the platforms here, Join It and Raklet take a share of online payments on top of the processor's fee. Join It takes 1.5% to 3%, depending on the plan. Raklet takes 1% to 4% plus 60 cents a payment. Springly's paid tiers and ClubExpress do not publish theirs. MembershipWorks and Veldun take nothing; your processor charges its own rate.
Is the cheapest option the best value if we collect dues online?
Not always. A fee on each payment grows with your dues. On Raklet Essentials, $20,000 collected in about 400 payments costs about $840 a year on top of the subscription. Who builds the website matters too, because on most of these platforms a volunteer or staff member does. Veldun costs more up front, takes nothing from dues, and builds the site for you.
